This is the day we honor our fathers.
My father is with the LORD. He passed 7 years ago.
His name was Alonzo Gentry Garvin
He was a quiet man who did the best he could do for everyone.
I recall when I studied piano at the Cleveland Music School Settlement, He always sat out side the door mostly with his head down
I recall when his mother passed. He walked up and down the block with his head down; when he came in he stated I am glad that you knew her for a little while,
When I was younger I asked him for a piano. We had to move seven blocks to Shaker.,
I recall when I asked him if I could study voice. You cannot sing. He drove to my first recital. His comment afterwards was I guess you can sing,
He was employed at the Post office. When there was an opening in 5haker he put in a bid.
He was able to walk to work.
I had a decent phone plan. I was able to call him 4when I was home for lunch. He loved game shows and we would pla7y long distance.
I sang at his celebration of life the hymn I surrender all.
I surrender all.
I miss my father.
